Methylene Blue Dye Adsorption in Aqueous System using Microcrystalline Cellulose obtained from Sugarcane Bagasse

Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) was prepared from sugarcane bagasse (SCB) after alkali extraction with sodium hydroxide (NaOH). The MCC treated methylene blue solution. Batch experiments were performed to investigate the effect of contact time, initial dye concentration, pH and adsorbent dosage on adsorption. result shows that adsorption onto influenced by dose, time values. For higher removal simulated wastewater, dose 0.4g concentration 200 mg/l gave optimum percentage (% R) 87.19. capacity increased increase in time. Also, duration for at 120 mins 9 respectively. experiment data fitted well into Freundlich isotherm. results this work revealed microcrystalline is a potential alternative non-conventional treating effluent.
